all wrapped up (Kirsten Storms)

I freaking love them!

Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova completely stole my heart last January when I saw their film Once. Shortly afterwards I purchased both the soundtrack to the movie as well as their duo album and have had them in rotation ever since. Below is an absolute gem of a video. They're covering Bob Dylan's "You Ain't Goin' Nowhere" and it never fails to warm my heart and have me singing along. I live for this kind of stuff.

Spontaneous Purchase (Hello Debt!)

This morning when my sister passed me in the hallway she said to me "we just bought a new computer!" and I was like, "we did, huh?" - I had completely fogetten about it. Last night she and I just up and ordered a spanking new Dell computer and are splitting the cost - I am now $600 in debt. So much for watching what I spend. *sigh* It's still surprising to me how quickly we made the purchase. She was using the computer last night while I was watching television. She made a comment on how slow the connection was and how slow the computer has been in general (slow to load/start up) for quite some time now (I had to agree, but it's wasn't the first time we've had this conversation). Our older sister jumped in with "you guys should just get a new one." I looked at my sister sitting in front of the computer still waiting for the screen to load up and she looked back at me with hopeful eyes and I simply said "go to the Dell page." My intentions were to simply look around. Instead, sitting side-by-side she got to clicking around with me directing her where to go and somehow we managed to make the damn purchase. When she hit the purchase button we looked at each other and she said to me "did we really just do that?" Yes. Yes, we did.

I keep telling myself that it's really about time that we bought a new one. The one we have now is from 2002, and although it's been quite good to us (it never crashed on us like our old Compaq), it's seen better days. We're not completely getting rid of it - it'll serve as our back-up from now on. Now all I have to do is keep reminding myself (and my wallet) that I'm doing something good for the economy...aren't I??? LOL

It's history, baby!

Go Barack Obama! He had my vote early on, but I'll admit that I wasn't keeping such a close eye on either his campaign or John McCain's and that the gravity of this historic election didn't hit me until late afternoon yesterday. Tears filled my eyes when it was finally announced that Obama had won the presidency. I breathed a sigh of relief and I felt a profound sense of hope that I've never felt before in my life. It was a beautiful feeling. Better days await this nation...await us all.

Twilight Fandom Rant

I am so fed up with all "I've already seen the whole movie" comments every time new movie stills come out. First people were complaining because we weren't getting any new ones, and now that we get them people are complaining. WHAT. THE. FUCK??? I don't understand some people. They could send three thousand more movie stills my way and I'd still be just as excited for the movie - more, actually. Besides, how much of the film were people really expecting to be surprised by? I mean, we've all read the books, right? We know what goes down and we know how it ends. I just don't get what the damn problem is. And it's not just this whole thing with the movie stills - it's everything. The casting. Breaking Dawn. The posters. The soundtrack. The EW magazine cover. Why must a large portion of this fandom complain about EVERYTHING? Maybe it's just me. Before Twilight, my two biggest fandoms were Harry Potter and soap operas and soap fans get treated like shit. Sometimes I don't even know why I'm still such a loyal soap fan when the-powers-that-be show very little loyalty to me or my fellow soap fans. With Twilight, I'm on cloud 9. I'm getting everything I've ever wanted out of a fandom. I think almost everyone was perfectly casted for the movie, and come November 21st I think those whom I'm still a bit unsure about will be alright in my eyes because I trust that Catherine Hardwicke made the best possible decisions. I loved the surprise that was Renesmee and the happy ending in Breaking Dawn. I might only love the first poster with Edward/Bella ("when you can live forever...), but I don't hate the others in the slightest. I'll judge the soundtrack after I've given it a good listen, but usually if I listen to a song for a couple of times I end up loving it. At first sight, the EW cover was only truly a bit off-putting because of the way Robert Pattinson's hair was styled, other than that? I love it.

I love this fandom, but it truly can be both heaven and hell.

36 Things About You (Me)

Meme from cafe_gourmande

If you're on my friends list, I want to know 36 things about you. I don't care if we never talk, or if we already know everything about each other. Short and sweet is fine... you're on my list, so I want to know you better!

01) Are you currently in a serious relationship?

02) What was your dream growing up?
I wanted to be a veternarian, only because of my love for canines. Then I realized that wasn't fair to the other animals. LOL

03) What talent do you wish you had?
I really wish I could play an instrument - piano and guitar. I also wish I could draw/paint.

04) If I bought you a drink what would it be?
Uh, a Virgin Margarita? I don't know. I really don't drink, not because I'm opposed to it or anything, I just rarely do it. If you bought me a drink I'd likely just say "I'll have what you're having." :D

05) Favorite vegetable?
Oh, they're so yummy, I have more than just one. I love carrots, green beans, broccoli, asparagus, beans, lettuce, and cabbage.

06) What was the last book you read?
Doomed Love by Virgil

07) What zodiac sign are you?
I was born on February 12, 1987, so Aquarius.

08) Any Tattoos and/or Piercings? Explain where.
None whatsoever. I had my ears pierced twice when I was a child, but both times I ended up with a bad infection. The holes have closed since then. I'll try again someday.

09) Worst Habit?
I bite my fingernails - not to be confused with eating my fingernails. Some people have that misconception. I just bite and throw them away.

10) If you saw me walking down the street would you offer me a ride?
If I knew/recognized you and had room for you? Absolutely!

11) What is your favorite sport?
I always enjoyed playing soccer and basketball, but I haven't played in such a long time. I enjoy watching them on TV, too, as well as figure skating.

12) Do you have a Pessimistic or Optimistic attitude?
Definitely optimistic. I always try to look on the bright side of things. I'm here. I'm alive. I'm relatively healthy. I'm not rich, but I've got a job, a family who loves me, a warm bed to sleep in and a roof over my head. That's more than a lot of people have.

13) What would you do if you were stuck in an elevator with me?
Panic?! I kid, I kid! I'd want to get to know you better. You up for a heart-to-heart?

14) Worst thing to ever happen to you?
My maternal grandmother passed away last October, and shortly after my 21st birthday (and within a 1-month time frame) me and one of my sisters stopped speaking to one one another. I was really depressed and I got into a car accident. Me and my sister have since then reconciled, and as for the car accident, only my Volvo suffered damages. I thank God no one was hurt.

15) Tell me one weird fact about you.
I'm weird.

16) Do you have any pets?
I have a new puppy. <3 He just joined my family about a month ago. His name is Lilo ('Lee-low').

17) What if I showed up at your house unexpectedly?
It's a full house, but come right on in - the more the merrier! :D

18) What was your first impression of me?
Well, you added me as your friend and I was flattered the gesture - that was so nice of you! I popped in to take a look around at your journal and thought it was great how even though we live on different continents, we both share some of the same interests. It's nice to make connections. :)

19) Do you think clowns are cute or scary?
In my eyes they can be both. As a child I used to have this adorable wind-up clown figure that I absolutely loved - it had such a cherubic face. On the other hand, you've got the Killer Klowns from Outer Space. Oy!

20) If you could change one thing about how you look, what would it be?
Like many females, I'd want to be thinner, but I don't obsess about it. I'm 21-years-old and I've gone this far without having major body issues, I don't intend to start now. I just know I need to get my butt to the gym more often.

21) Would you be my crime partner or my conscience?
Depends on what you're partaking in. ;)

22) What color eyes do you have?
Dark brown.

23) Ever been arrested?

24) Bottle or can soda?
Can soda (very rarely).

25) If you won $10,000 today, what would you do with it?
I'd help my parents out with the mortgage.

27) What's your favorite place to hang out at?
My front yard at night. <3 Also, I've never been to a library I didn't like.

28) Do you believe in ghosts?
I believe in spirits, yes.

29) Favorite thing to do in your spare time?
Read. Blast some good music. Take a walk.

30) Do you swear a lot?
Oh my, yes! I mostly drop the f-bomb and the B word and it's usually only around my sisters (either because we're playing around or really angry with each other).

31) Biggest pet peeve?
Knuckle cracking and loud gum chewing/popping.

32) In one word, how would you describe yourself?

33) Do you believe/appreciate romance?

34) Favourite and least favourite food?
My favorite food is chicken (prepared any which way). My least favorite is seafood.

35) Do you believe in God?
Yes. I was raised a Catholic and I still hold the beliefs/my faith.

36) Will you repost this so I can fill it out and do the same for you?

EPIC love

My first fanmix (ever)!

I've always wanted to do one of these, I just didn't realize how much work went into it. Or maybe it's just me. I'm so damn meticulous that it's a wonder how I ever get anything done. Anyway, I'm happy with the way this mix turned out and I hope you like, too. :) Comments, as always, are big love.

Oh, and, the title was inspired by/ripped off from track 9 - an Edward song.
